Open Discussion
The June meeting will begin with an open discussion on any astronomical topic that members would like to discuss. Members are encouraged to bring a question, or any interesting topic they would like to talk about for an interesting half-hour of open discussion.
Determining Longitude at Sea Presented by Arnold Brody, Director, Public Relations
Arnold will describe the problem seafaring nations had in the age of sail (15th - 18th centuries) trying to determine their longitude at sea, and how efforts to solve the problem produced breakthroughs in astronomy.
What's Up in the Night Sky Presented by Jeff Dutton, Director of the Members' Observing Committee
Jeff offers a tour on objects suitable for observing for June and July.
