Michael gives an update on two comets that have the potential of becoming great sights this year: C/2011 L4 (Pan-STARRS) due in March, and C/2012 S1 (ISON) in November.

Frank gives us an update on the Curiosity Mars rover, describing the science performed by the most sophisticated robotic rover yet deployed.
What's Up in the Night Sky Presented by Jeff Dutton
This month's What's Up takes us on a tour of celestial objects well placed for viewing between the February and March meetings.

The Durham Region Astronomical Association is once again participating at this popular family event being held at the Newcastle & District Recreation Complex on Rundell Road. The DRAA will have a large indoor display on all things astronomical. And if the skies are clear, we will offer safe views of sunspots and solar flares through telescopes equipped with safe solar filters.
